ABOUT

PERSEPHONE PERSIMMON comes from ULDAH MERCHANT NOBILITY. Passable with courtly matters, but shined in the Colosseum. Family bought her the best tutors and trainers and sponsored her Gladiator career. People assume she bought her way to the top, paying for losses or bribing judges---Until they got their teeth knocked out through their asshole.If they knew how far she strayed from the path of Sports Superstar and Diplomat, they'd be horrified. Thankfully a lot of travel and begrudgingly helpful sister help keep that from them.Persephone suffers the fate of many Persimmons:
An almost complete lack of bodily aether.Using a Soulstone causes the previous owner's personality to dominate;
Magic is almost impossible for her to wield on her own;
and those with Aethersight can barely perceive her.Nowadays, Persephone seldom touches a Soulstone, instead choosing to rely on martial prowess for most fights. (And special equipment from House Haillenarte's Skysteel Manufactory.)She delights in big batch baking and new technology.
She despises armchair aristocrats and long stints in court.
She's unsure if she'd ever be a great leader, but she knows she'd make an excellent right hand.
One day, she hopes she can look back on it all and feel she's accomplished enough.
One day.

AETHER (OR LACK THEREOF)

Persephone, and most of the Persimmon family. have unnaturally low reserves of bodily aether.In day-to-day life, this matters little, especially in the courts of Ul'dah. But when you're facing down primals and eikons—
it means a lot.Throughout a lot of her early adventuring career, she relied heavily on soulstones. The personality of the previous holder overpowering her own, resulting in a lot of Persephones in the same body. She almost considered it a strength: Adaptability in the face of any problem.That was, until, her sister Pallas, a diplomat, beat her, a primal-slayer, in a simple no-soulstones duel. She didn't realize how much she let her natural skills atrophy and put all her powers on the backburner.Nowadays, she relies almost entirely on her gunblade. Not one of Garlean design, but a collaboration between her gladiatorial past and the machinists of House Haillenarte's Skysteel Manufactory. A prime example of parallel thinking.She carries around various crystals of different aethers; aether draining devices; aether amplifiers; and a small arsenal of gadgets and knick-knacks for when blades and bullets just can't cut it.The old soulstones still come out every now and again, relegated to being another tool in the arsenal, rather than a signature weapon.
Echo manifestation:
farm-to-table
Despite her aether-deficiency, Persephone does still possess The Echo. Her very specific manifestation lets her see how anything she tastes was prepared, as well as the provenance of each ingredient. Great for a Culinarian; Better for catching poison.

The Story So Far
Persephone left her life in Ul'dah when her Echo started to awaken. Blessed (or cursed) with visions into the past, she set off to explore this new power.She embarked onto a rough path of dungeoneering. Unearthing Eorzea's past and testing her mettle as a gladiator, warrior, and sport. She's signed on to a few big ventures that definitely felt epic; but if anyone explained the details, they went in one ear and out the other.After roaming the land, seeing the sites, and touring the other big cities: Persephone found purpose in Idyllshire. Her mornings are spent in Menphina's Arms, cooking breakfasts for Zhloe's growing gaggle of orphans; Her afternoons are spent serving The Immortal Flames on the Frontlines; and her nights are spent in dungeons, in forgotten treasure troves, or living it up with her friends.But all good things must come to an end.

When the Dragonsong War started to truly descend upon the people of Ishgard, Persephone took up sword & board once more. Donning the mantle of Knight once more, and earning the respect of House Haillenarte. With Nidhogg put down for good, this little slice of Eorzea can sleep softly.Persephone thought she could do the same until her sister, Pallas, came knocking to call her home. After a formal dressing down in front of her friends, and beating Persephone in a classic duel, Pallas bade her to continue her diplomatic duties abroad and bring something home while she covered.
So she sets sail with her friends, bound to Othard. After failing to contact the Eastern Branch of House Persimmon, House Pomegranate, she explores the continent proper.Persephone was able to win some degree of respect amongst the smaller tribes of the Azim Steppe. Enough to get a emissaries from the Ura trader tribe and the Qaili songbird tribe to tag along with her.venturing deeper in, she managed to run into a far-flung family member, tahla Molkoh. Tahla, now having married out of the Pomegranates and into The Twin Adders, is investigating the silent superweapon known was Black Rose.Persephone, exhausted by Diplomacy, makes herself as free as possible to assist.
It wasn't long before the fate of House Pomegranate was discovered.
They too, were victims of Black Rose.As Persephone returned home to deliver the news, the warriors of light had business in some entirely different world. Leaving this one, and all its problems, to her.In order to face the claws of empire tightening their grip, Persephone's sister, Pallas, gave her a secret family heirloom. One of two "Jeweled Persimmons". But they weren't simply aetherytes--they were small dragon eyes.
With a power source in hand, Persephone pooled what resources she had. House Haillenarte's Manufactory and her friendship with the goblins of Idyllshire. Together they devised a tool with the Jewel Persimmon at its core.A mechanical sleeve, able to absorb, store, and dish out aether like any normal Eorzean. Tinged with a mysterious orange glow of dragon energy. Controlled by the little aether she naturally possessed it was just enough to aid Estinien and Gaius in storming the throne.Ongoing conflicts at home made her draw deeper on the draconic power. Clashes with the Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, and Diamond weapons pushed her to the brink. The more it started to change her. Dragon aether seeping out and scarring her face and body. Tinging her eyes and her hair.Thankfully the warriors of light returned and she could finally seek a peace with the spirit of her dragon eye.
Persephone marched on Garlemald with the Grand Company of Eorzea and Warriors Of Light to finally fight the greater threat.With a gunblade full of Dragon Aether she helped fight the Anima's tempering of the Garlean people and traverse the towers that kept popping up. This lead her to follow the Warriors of Light to the moon for a brief stint and help put down Zodiark. For better or worse.Persephone spent The Final Days fighting blasphemies around Thavnair and helping repair efforts there. She was finally unceremoniously plucked from the battlefield to fight The Endsinger and get sent back a bit worse for wear.Now Persephone takes up residence in Thavnair. She finds the land she defended to be a beautiful one, rich in people and opportunity. And lacking in a branch of the Persimmon Family ventures. She keeps busy setting up the new branch and reinventing herself a bit to appeal to this new market. Her family are finally glad she's more than their retired celebrity daughter, and hope she bags a rich foreign spouse someday.

house persimmon
A noble merchant house of Ul'dah. Small, but specializing in produce, small beauty products, the odd bit of jewelery, and of course, persimmons.
House persimmon's relationship to ul'dah's ruling "Syndicate" is tenuous at best. The Persimmons are small enough that an effort from any one member of The Syndicate might see them obliterated or consumed. As such, House Persimmon tries to keep them at arm's length, and avoid becoming a threat.
At present, House Persimmon is trying to quietly shore their ranks and recruit new allies. They'd like to make a play for a seat on The Syndicate but know it's a high stakes, all-or-nothing gamble. this is their primary reason why they want Persephone to give up her adventuring life and come home, take up her courtly duties, and be a good little baroness like they intended.

Pallas Persimmon
The first-born of House Persimmon. The dutiful daughter doing everything she's told and everything they could never ask. Persephone sees her as an uptight goody-two-shoes, and Pallas sees her as an entitled brat.In truth, Pallas runs interference for Persephone, while hammering home how much the family gave for her and how little she's given back.
